Greetings and salutations,
Some friends of mine showed me the Darkon documentary since they knew I was a member of Amtgard (Western Gate), and was wondering if you guys have any parks/chapters/countries/whatnot in the midwest. Or, are you guys primarily on the east coast?
While I enjoy Amtgard, I'm not a big fan of the fact that it has evolved/devolved into a 'touch-sport' of sorts, and was wondering if there were any other non-SCA options out there.
Thanks,
-Coyote of Western Gate

EDIT: Also, what would it entail to start up a Darkon country(?)/group in the St. Louis area? Is that possible/desirable?
--Also, would it be out of the question to inquire the short version (if there is one?) of how the whole deal between Laconia and Mordom ended from the documentary? I apologize if it's taboo. |

Welcome, Coyote!
At the present time, Darkon is based in the MD/VA/DC Metro Area. There are other informal chapters, though I don't have an exact idea of where they are. Your best bet is to ask on the message boards at www.darkon.org.
Good luck!

Well, it seems that the general consensus is adamantly against expanding Darkon into other areas. They're mostly cool with people using the rules, just not becoming a new Darkon chapter.
Seems they fear it devolving into something akin to Amtgard (which I don't blame them for not wanting this, as it's the same reasoning that has me looking for a better/different foam fighting organization).
Thanks, again, and best luck to you all.
